EIB Trainee – Projects Directorate – Housing, Cities & Regions Department – Regional Development Division – based in Luxembourg

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ) - Housing, Cities & Regions Department (HCR) - Regional Development Division (REGDEV), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

Objective of the traineeship

You will support the EIB-based Secretariat of the sub-group on Just Transition (JT) of the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) in achieving a common set of output and outcome indicators for the MDBs’ JT activities through database analysis and conceptual framing. This will make your work visible inside the EIB but also among colleagues from other MDBs working on the topic.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Develop a results database of all EIB JT projects (outputs and outcomes)
• Review other MDBs’ reporting systems on JT and identify common ground
• Support the Secretariat of the MDB sub-group on JT in gathering information and collaborative input from the group members at the other MDBs, and
• Propose a feasible set of output and outcome indicators common to all MDBs to enable them to report on some results of their JT activities in a consistent and comparable manner
• Support the lead JT expert in preparing the meetings of the sub-group through analytical and stocktaking work, including by visualizing the findings in presentations and short papers.
• Over and above the indicator work described above, you shall contribute to the preparation of other deliverables of the MDB JT sub-group’s annual work programme, which will be decided at the end of 2025Q1. You may also be required to support the supervisor in operational tasks related to the Secretariat of the MDB sub-group on Just Transition.
  
  

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

• Final year of studies or University degree in economics, political science, engineering, spatial planning, urbanism, environmental sciences or related technical fields
• You bring strong analytical skills as evidenced by:
• Ease at analysing large datasets.
• A clear sense of measures and measurement units
• Intellectual curiosity to identify semantic and technical commonalities vs differences in concepts and definitions.
• Drive and creativity in bridging the distance between ideal concepts and (limited) availability of real-world data.
• You like taking the initiative to solve problems and tackle challenges proactively. Some past experience in managing a project would be an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. A good command of MS Teams would be an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of at least one other EU language would be an advantage.
