FIF Trainee – EIB Global Directorate – Corporate Finance and Global Activities Department – Equity & Funds Division – Private Equity Unit – based in Luxembourg

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its EIB Global Directorate – Corporate Finance and Global Activities Department – Equity & Funds Division – Private Equity Unit, at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 6 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

(With possible extension up to 12 months)

Please note that the Programme is created under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) and is open to young nationals from one of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region (Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) and ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) Region, all 79 ACP Partner Countries (please see Provisions section).

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

The overall goal of the traineeship is to provide you with a good overview of the work of the Private Equity Unit. You will participate to the development and analysis of the team's pipeline of opportunities, including market mapping exercises on global private equity and venture capital markets (from the perspective of a fund-of-funds). You will prepare detailed analyses of the pipeline, as well as draft presentations about the team's activities, deal flow and impact metrics. You will also help with the team's visibility boost campaign. You will benefit from experiencing the activities of an innovative team working on private equity and venture capital funds. You will gain insight into the development of pioneering financial products to accommodate the needs of market niches (incl. support to female entrepreneurship and digital sectors in emerging markets).

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Unit’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be:

• Participate in the market mapping exercises of global private equity and venture capital markets;
• Participate in the detailed analysis and management of the pipeline of the team;
• Work on the performance and impact metrics of the existing portfolio;
• Participate in the visibility boost campaigns of the team.
  
  

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

• Final year of studies or University degree of a MENA/ACP partner country in Finance, Economics, or Engineering (with a Business/Finance angle) or in a related field;
• Some experience in Fund-of-Funds, Private Equity or Venture Capital investments will be considered as an advantage (direct or indirect);
• Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of written and spoken French
