The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate – Housing, Cities & Regions Department – Regional Development Division, at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 6 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)
(With possible extension up to 12 months)
Please note that the Programme is created under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) and is open to young nationals from one of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region (Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) and ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) Region, all 79 ACP Partner Countries (please see Provisions section).
Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.
Objective of the traineeship
You will support the EIB Regional development division to set the implementation framework of the pilot operation “Development of the region Souss Massa in Morocco”. Since this is the first Moroccan region to work with a multilateral development bank, this traineeship will make your work visible inside the EIB but also among colleagues from other Multilateral development banks working on the topic.

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Collect data and documentation about the Regional Development Programme project pipeline.
- Track the evolution of relevant policy and regulatory framework applicable to regional authorities in Morocco, in particular in the fields of the EIB intervention.
- Contribute to identify projects in the field of urban renewal and regional development, transport infrastructure and environment and prevention of natural disasters.
- Assist in advising promoters on the preparation and implementation of projects.
- Support to the review and monitoring of the projects allocated under the operation.
- Help to set up the technical assistance (e.g. preparation of grant applications).
- Support the environmental and social management framework of the operation.
- Support the preparation of meetings and on-site missions.
- Over and above the indicative work described above, you may contribute to the appraisal or implementation of similar operations to ensure synergies and consistency as well as to put lessons learned from this pilot operation in practice.
- Final year of studies or University degree of a MENA/ACP partner country in Economics, Political science, Engineering, Regional development, Spatial planning, Urbanism, Environmental sciences or related technical fields.
- Acquaintance with development policies and projects financed by international donors would be an advantage.
- Good analytical skills (on datasets and policy documents), good writing skills and a solution-oriented mindset. Eager to take initiative to solve problems and tackle challenges proactively. Some experience in managing a project would be an advantage.
- Some experience in multicultural working environment and with diverse stakeholders would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge and/or experience about/in Maghreb countries, Morocco in particular.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. A good command of MS Teams would be an advantage.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and/or French. A good knowledge of Arabic language would be an advantage.
