The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Inspectorate General Directorate (IG) – Operations Evaluation Division (EV) – Knowledge Management, Products and Methods Unit (KPM), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

Objective of the traineeship
You will support the Evaluation Division in the Inspectorate General (IG/EV) of the EIB in carrying out desk-research and other evaluative activities (as needed) in the framework of IG/EV’s on-going and upcoming evaluations for 2025.
The IG/EV division would need you to support its activities in carrying out ongoing evaluations and related studies. Your initial tasks would be related to delivering the background research paper(s) for the evaluation(s) that will be carried out in the course of the traineeships period.
According to IG/EV’s work program, several evaluations or studies will be ongoing in early-2025, for example the evaluations of: EIB Group contribution to InvestEU, EIB support for health infrastructure inside EU, EIB Economic Resilience Initiative. Depending upon IG/EV’s workload, you could also be asked to contribute to other tasks related to those evaluations (for example: support in the portfolio review of EIB operations, undertake surveys or attend interviews, etc.). Such involvement can cover preparatory activities, or data collection and analysis.

- Prepare policy and literature reviews on the theme(s) targeted by one or more of IG/EV’s upcoming evaluations or studies.
- Contribute to other components of a thematic evaluation or study (e.g. portfolio review, data collection via surveys or interviews, data analysis).
- Support the logistics of evaluation processes (organisation of interaction with stakeholders, of data collection and analysis).
- Support IG/EV’s outreach activities (knowledge sharing and gathering, both within and outside the EIB).
- Final year of studies or University degree (i.e. any related subject on) Economics, Finance, Social Sciences, Political Sciences or Engineering.
- Familiarity with evaluation (e.g. specialised courses in evaluation) would be an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with using a variety of Social Science research methods would be an advantage.
- Facility in drafting clear and concise texts in English would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of other EU language would be an advantage.
