The Department of Oncology covers medical and radiation oncology and has more than 500 employees led by Prof Ulrik Lassen and head nurse Mette Misfelt.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Physicist in Copenhagen. The role involves various day-to-day tasks related to medical physics and supporting the hospital's healthcare services.
Your key role will be in the daily clinical service at our institution, joining the team of physicists to provide patient care at the highest level of precision and safety. To this end you will be expected to also be part of a close and constructive interdisciplinary collaboration. Research and development are integral parts of the clinical service at our institution, so you will be expected to collaborate with the research teams. For example, in the introduction of innovative technologies and supporting clinical trials.
It is an advantage if you have experience in MR and MR guided radiotherapy and a desire to join our team on the MR accelerator and/or the brachytherapy team.
We offer a permanent position if you are a qualified medical physicist with certification from the national board of health (SIS) or equivalent. If you do not hold such a certification, we offer a 3.5-year position as a trainee during which you would be expected to obtain the certification. Staff and technical equipment
You will be joining a group comprised of 17 physicists (some with joint research fellowship- clinical appointments), 9 dose planners, 5 service engineers and 2 IT technicians and 13 radiographers in the scanner and preparation functions under the section of medical physics.
You will be expected to contribute to the multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous education of treatment staff and medical doctors ranging from early career trainees to highly experienced and sub-specialized experts.
The main delivery platform currently consists of seven TrueBeam linear accelerators, two Ethos, one Halcyon 3.0 and a ViewRay MRIdian MR-linear accelerator plus a Clinac with limited usage. Finally, we have two Elekta afterloaders for brachytherapy and a KV treatment unit.
Qualifications
- A physics degree
- A keen desire to use your skills as medical physicist to provide optimal care to every patient and support to the medical and frontline treatment staff.
- Good collaboration skills both with other physicists, but also multidisciplinary with nurses, radiographers, clinicians, and technicians
- A friendly personality.
- It is an advantage to have experience with Varian, ViewRay, ARIA/Eclipse or any other parts of our equipment.
- It is an advantage, but not a prerequisite, if you speak either Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish. If not, we will expect that you join an intensive Danish language course and should expect progress in Danish language skills as a requirement during the
